You May Need to Find a New Attorney If…

If any of these apply to your relationship with your current attorney, you may want to consider looking for replacement counsel:

History of Complaints and Illegal Behavior

If your attorney has a history of ethical misconduct, it could spell trouble for you and your case down the road.  You can check on public disciplinary records for every Florida attorney through the Florida Bar website, which contains specific search instructions.  If you suspect that your attorney has engaged in illegal or unethical acts, at the very least consider hiring a new lawyer immediately.

Lack of Communication

Good attorneys have ongoing, consistent, and direct contact with their clients.  Large TV-advertising law firms almost exclusively rely on support staff, paralegals, and “case managers” to have direct contact with clients, and do not expect their attorneys to provide the personal, direct attorney assistance for which the client is paying.  While attorneys are admittedly very busy and have many burdens placed on their time, these issues do not excuse an attorney’s failure to personally return telephone calls within a reasonable period of time.  Clients should always be able to reach someone in the office who can assist them.  If you rarely, or almost never actually get to speak with your attorney, it could indicate your legal matter is not being given the attention it deserves.

Poor Peer and Client Reviews

Attorneys constantly receive reviews from clients and their peers.  These reviews are an invaluable tool for you when hiring an attorney or deciding to replace your current attorney.  Whether it be through Google, Martindale Hubbell, Avvo, or Facebook, there are many resources from which you can gain critical information.   Martindale Hubbell in the primary rating service for attorneys in the United States since the 1880s – it’s the gold-standard for rating U.S. lawyers.  Less than 4% of all U.S. attorneys achieve Martindale Hubbell’s AV rating, it’s highest rating awarded.  Every attorney at GTS is AV rated through Martindale Hubbell.  In fact, we are the only multi-member law firm in Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, or North Port in which every lawyer is AV rated through Martindale Hubbell.  If your current attorney is not highly rated and has not received glowing reviews from clients, other attorneys, judges, court personnel, and other legal professionals, be wary.

Lack of Compassion

Personal injury claims are frustrating, scary, and stressful for clients. In addition to maximizing our clients’ recoveries in personal injury claims, we also believe it is our duty to take as much stress as possible off of our clients’ shoulders and place it on our own.  While many TV-advertising law firms treat their clients as claim numbers, we treat our clients as friends and neighbors.

At Goldman, Tiseo and Sturges, P.A., our AV-rated car accident lawyer provides client-focused attention and personalized legal guidance. We believe that you shouldn’t have to pay for someone else’s mistakes. Call our law office in Port Charlotte, FL, at (941) 625-6666 to request your free initial consultation with an experienced car accident lawyer.
